The Gorham Rams will square off against the Scarborough Red Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Gorham came out on top against Sanford on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Rams put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 8-1 victory. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 26, 2025 (when they won 20-1).
Miles Brenner and Hunter Finck were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Brenner pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Finck didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At the plate, Brenner went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Finck went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Washburn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Gorham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanford struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, while Scarborough put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Deering. The Red Storm blew past the Rams 9-0.
Kam Duggan and Joe Donahue did most of the damage at the plate: Duggan went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Donahue went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave Donahue a new career-high. Kayson Cyr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Gorham's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Scarborough, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
