Softball Recap: Rivercrest Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Rivercrest won the last time they faced Newport and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Colts blew past the Greyhounds 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Zoiey Fox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ella Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Fox wasn't the only one making solid contact: Rivercrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Newport, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, Rivercrest will host Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games. As for Newport, they will head out to take on White County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.62 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
