The Lamar Texans had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged Ridge Point out 31-28. Lamar's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Reaves, who rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 134 yards and a touchdown. Justin Howard was another key contributor, rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
When it comes to explaining why Ridge Point lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Austin Carlisle. Despite the final result, he rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 246 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Quincy Drummer, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.
Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Ridge Point, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Lamar will face off against Atascocita at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridge Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
