The Pewaukee Pirates will square off against the Greendale Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pewaukee 2.8, Greendale 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Greendale will be up against a hot Pewaukee squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Pirates walked away with an 8-3 victory over Waukesha North on Tuesday. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Hailey Hutchens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Hutchens was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Madeline Jeffrey and Gillian Stelse did most of the damage at the plate: Jeffrey went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Stelse went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Stelse a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Brewster, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Pewaukee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukesha North only posted a batting average of .241.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greendale, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand New Berlin West a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Greendale got a massive performance out of Macey St. Lawrence, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Brooke Hart was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Pewaukee's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Greendale, their win bumped their record up to 13-3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pewaukee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greendale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pewaukee came out on top in a nail-biter against Greendale in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
