After flying high against the Sacopee Valley Hawks last Saturday, the Boothbay Seahawks came back down to earth. Boothbay took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Yarmouth Academy.
Boothbay lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Finn Harkins, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The match was Harkins' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Morley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Boothbay were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Boothbay's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for North Yarmouth Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boothbay will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Monmouth Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Monmouth Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boothbay in Maine (Monmouth Academy is ranked 14th, while Boothbay is ranked 102nd). As for North Yarmouth Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Poland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poland comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
