After a string of three wins, the Lamar Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a hard 47-31 fall against East Rankin Academy. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Patriots are ranked 19th).
Blake Hart and Aryah Grace certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hart scored 13 points along with four steals, while Grace dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Hart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for East Rankin Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 30-6 record this season.
Lamar won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Leake Academy is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. East Rankin Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
