After losing to the Benson Bunnies the last time they met, the Gretna East Griffins decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Gretna East walked away with a 47-39 win over Benson on Friday.
It was another big night for Talan Hovie, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jake Hawley, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Several Bunnies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Goanar Bamach, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominik Rice, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Gretna East's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Benson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gretna East will take on Omaha Central at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Benson, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bellevue East at 4:45 p.m. on January 20th. Bellevue East is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
