Kendal Sifford tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Carson's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was TJ Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Cameron Williamson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Rowan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Dudley with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Brady Ailshie looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, East Rowan let Mason Phelps and Zeke Stewart run wild. Phelps went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Stewart went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Stewart a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Ketchie, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
East Rowan pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Carson came out on top in a nail-biter against East Rowan when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
