Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washburn). They blew past the Central Aroostook Panthers 18-0 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Beavers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Blake King was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washburn is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-5 otherwise. King was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brayden Boulier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Washburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Washburn broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7. As for Central Aroostook, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Washburn will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
