Baseball Recap: Walled Lake Western's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Walled Lake Western's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over the Mott Corsairs. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Novak Lazich and Lucas Hoffmeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Lazich got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Hoffmeyer went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave Lazich a new career-high. Dallas Sauve was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Walled Lake Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Walled Lake Western moved to 9-5-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Mott, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home.

Looking ahead, Walled Lake Western is taking a road trip to face off against South Lyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mott, they will be playing at home against South Lyon East at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
