Basketball Game Preview: Carlson Marauders vs. Trenton Trojans

Carlson has gone 9-1 against Trenton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Carlson Marauders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trenton Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Carlson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Carlson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Anderson, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.

Carlson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Saavedra, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. What's more, Saavedra also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Matt MacBride, who earned 11 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Trenton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Roosevelt by a score of 58-47 on Tuesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Bears are ranked 665th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Trenton pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Carlson, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Carlson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Trenton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-55 victory. Does Carlson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trenton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
