Michael Austin threw three touchdowns and
Aaron Hardin caught three as
Helix (La Mesa, Calif.) defeated West Hills (Santee, Calif.) 44-7 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Austin to Hardin in the first quarter, the Highlanders were up 44-0 at the half.
Helix put up 32 points in the second quarter en route to the win. HHS scored on a touchdown catch by Hardin, a Austin touchdown pass to Hardin, a touchdown pass by Austin to
Jalen Davis and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
Hardin was the top performer for the La Mesa school. The senior wide receiver caught three touchdowns.
West Hills' only touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from Stephen Schindler to Peanut Herrada in the fourth quarter.
The Wolf Pack came in surrendering 16.1 points per game this season. West Hills had a hard time against Helix's offense, who entered the game scoring 6.4 points per game. Helix had given up an average of 11.1 points prior to the contest. The seven points that WH ended with were well below its average of 20.9 coming into the game.
The loss comes after West Hills defeated Valhalla 32-25 last week. The loss ended West Hills' two-game winning streak. With the win HHS extended its winning streak to three games.
In a Grossmont - Hills game next week Helix (6-2) takes on Grossmont, and West Hills (6-2) will go up against Granite Hills also in a Grossmont - Hills game.
