The Tamarac Bengals are taking a road trip to take on the Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tamarac is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
While Tamarac didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Hoosic Valley with a sharp 14-1 win on Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 5, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Jacob Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Quackenbush, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keegan Blakesley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Tamarac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Waterford-Halfmoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Mechanicville.
Tamarac's record is now 5-2. As for Waterford-Halfmoon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Waterford-Halfmoon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tamarac has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .512. It's a different story for Waterford-Halfmoon, though, as they've only averaged .331. Will they be able to contain Tamarac's hitters?
Tamarac suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Waterford-Halfmoon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bengals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
