McKinley had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-18 to make it five. They came up short against the Western Reserve Blue Devils, falling 23-10. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Aaliyah Bowyer and Raegan Wynn did some serious damage despite the final result: Bowyer went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Wynn went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Wynn has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Davianna Bowyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
As for Western Reserve, the win got them back to even at 6-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Western Reserve's side, Averie Hendon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, Hendon is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Baylie Sinn, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Isabelle Moran also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
While McKinley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
