Baseball Game Preview: Santa Fe Trail Chargers vs. Eudora Cardinals

The Santa Fe Trail Chargers will take on the Eudora Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe Trail is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

While Santa Fe Trail's victory against Osawatomie wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Trojans on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted against the Trojans since April 13, 2021.

Layton Lind spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Fe Trail is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tanner Sleichter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bryson Crotinger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Santa Fe Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Eudora lost 8-2 to Spring Hill on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost six in a row.
