The Weiss Wolves will face off against the Cedar Hill Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Weiss got the win against Hutto by a conclusive 52-29. The victory was just what Weiss needed coming off of a 41-17 loss in their prior game.
Jax Brown went supernova for Weiss, throwing for 322 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.5% of his passes. Weiss also got help from Adrian Wilson who showed off his sure hands for 120 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Cedar Hill humbled Lake Ridge with a 37-6 victory. Given Cedar Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Lake Ridge is ranked 437th), the result last Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cedar Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayshun Reese, who rushed for 127 yards on only 11 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Edwards, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Weiss pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.4 points per game. As for Cedar Hill, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Weiss has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 282.8 passing yards per game.
