The Legacy Lightning and the Cherry Creek Bruins squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Legacy Lightning had to settle for second. Legacy's rough 31-7 defeat to Cherry Creek might stick with them for a while. Legacy's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Tyler Anderson, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Cherry Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Fox, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Fox was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Cherry Creek also got help from Tyson Mauck who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.
Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cherry Creek, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cherry Creek will square off against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Cherry Creek likes a good challenge.
