Jefferson Area is on a three-game streak of home wins, while the Warriors are on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Even though Jefferson Area has not done well against the Blue Streaks recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Jefferson Area managed a 50-44 win over the Blue Streaks. The win was all the more spectacular given Jefferson Area's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 150th).
Meanwhile, Edgewood came up short against the Pirates on Wednesday and fell 45-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Edgewood has scored all season.
Jefferson Area now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Edgewood, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-1.
Jefferson Area came up short against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 57-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Edgewood's Katie Mccollister, who scored 24 points along with four steals.
