Maddi Walters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bloom-Carroll got a massive performance out of Madelyn Gates, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Sharrow, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Bloom-Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .537 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Licking Valley suffered their closest defeat since May 18, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Watkins Memorial by a score of 4-2.
Emory Whisner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits.
At the plate, D'Neya Dennis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Bloom-Carroll pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Licking Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Both Bloom-Carroll and Licking Valley just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Licking Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bloom-Carroll couldn't quite finish off Licking Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
