It was a good run, but the Blackman Blaze unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Oakland. Blackman was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oakland apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Thursday.
Despite the loss, Blackman still got an impressive performance from Kaelyn Flowers, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Flowers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyriq Mastin, who scored 18 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oakland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Nash, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chloe Phillips, who scored 12 points.
Blackman's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Oakland, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Blackman and Rockvale will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Rockvale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Oakland, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Oakland is ranked 46th).
