After a string of three wins, the Sequoyah Chiefs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Etowah. Sequoyah was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Etowah apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Sequoyah lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Milanni Abdus-Salaam, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Addison Ghorley, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Megan Reed, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds for Etowah. Taylor Wills was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Sequoyah's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Etowah, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Sequoyah will head out on the road to square off against Creekview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Etowah, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Allatoona at 6:00 p.m. Allatoona is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
