After a string of three wins, the University Christian Barracudas's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between University Christian and Hickory Christian Academy wasn't particularly close, with University Christian falling 41-27. University Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hickory Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Hickory Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Mia McGrath dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds and Mary alice Bowman scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Bowman pulled down eight or more rebounds.
University Christian has fallen quite a ways from their 12-6 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Hickory Christian Academy, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-9.
University Christian will play host again and welcome Statesville Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Statesville Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Hickory Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Day School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Day School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
