Academy at Palumbo has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the George Washington Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. George Washington took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Academy at Palumbo, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Academy at Palumbo beat Central 48-44.
Meanwhile, George Washington was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 46-45 to Olney. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as George Washington came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Olney is ranked 682nd).
Despite their loss, George Washington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aidan Berry, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Berry continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anderson Dorvil, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Academy at Palumbo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for George Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Everything came up roses for Academy at Palumbo against George Washington in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-38 win. With Academy at Palumbo ahead 41-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.
