On Monday, Sam Houston was able to grind out a solid victory over East Chambers, taking the game 59-48. Given Sam Houston's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 141st in Louisiana, while East Chambers is ranked 577th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Blaine Davey, who scored 21 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Khali Celestine, who scored ten points.
The victory got Sam Houston back to even at 6-6. As for East Chambers, they bumped their record down to 11-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
