The Central Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 64-44 walloping at the hands of Jay. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with Jay: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: Carson Baxley scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Baxley hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Ellison, who scored 13 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Mcdonald, who scored 20 points along with six assists and two steals. Mcdonald has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Tanner Mandell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Central has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Jay, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Santa Rosa Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Central is facing Santa Rosa Christian at the right time seeing as Santa Rosa Christian is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Jay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview is coming into the game with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Jay will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
