La Serna is a perfect 3-0 against Redondo Union since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. La Serna will face off against Redondo Union at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as La Serna comes in on three and Redondo Union on five.
La Serna saw some tournament action on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Aliso Niguel. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, Redondo Union got the win against Wiseburn- Da Vinci on Friday by a conclusive 13-1. The Sea Hawks are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Teilar Fry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other pitching news, Bailey Murray looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Abby Luis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaya Aguirre was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Redondo Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Redondo Union's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for La Serna, their record now sits at 7-3.
La Serna took their victory against Redondo Union in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 9-1. Will La Serna repeat their success, or does Redondo Union has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
