The Westlake Thunder will square off against the Orem Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Westlake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mountain Crest as Westlake made off with a 13-0 win. Considering the Thunder have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Pead was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinzie Bailey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Orem lost 14-4 to Lehi on Wednesday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Orem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Hoshnic, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Hoshnic has posted since back in April of 2024. Sadie Groneman was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Orem now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westlake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Westlake took their win against Orem when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-1. Does Westlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orem turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
