Calvary Christian Academy came into this matchup off a tough 13-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Faith Christian Academy by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday.
Calvary Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Benjamin, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dock Mennonite). They put the hurt on The Christian Academy with a sharp 17-3 victory on Wednesday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with The Christian Academy recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Avery Kutzner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Nora Osifchin was incredible, firing off four doubles, four RBI, and two runs while going 4-for-5. Those doubles were her first of the season. Taelyn Landis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .167.
Dock Mennonite's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
