Football Game Preview: Pender Pendragons vs. Shelby-Rising City Huskies

Two dominant backs in Trevor Trimble and Carter Eickmeier are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pender Pendragons will head out on the road to take on the Shelby-Rising City Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pender comes in on nine and Shelby-Rising City on ten.

Pender is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 30-26 W over Lourdes Central Catholic.

Pender's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Heineman, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD. That's the most receiving yards Heineman has posted since back in September. Zander Welsh was another key passer, throwing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes.

Pender didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lourdes Central Catholic to a completion percentage of just 47.6%. The Pendragons hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.33 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Shelby-Rising City against Bloomfield on Friday as the team secured a 54-14 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Pender better keep an eye on Logan Lindsley. He was instrumental in Shelby-Rising City's win, rushing for 43 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 77 yards and one TD on only six passes.

Pender's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Shelby-Rising City, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pender has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 211.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Shelby-Rising City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 293.6 rushing yards.
