The Shadow Creek Sharks will take on the Clear Springs Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shadow Creek had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by Strake Jesuit on the road to the tune of 38-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-0.
Shadow Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Stewart, who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Stewart's longest reception was for an incredible 88 yards. George "Alex" Kirkland II was another key contributor, rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Clear Springs never let their opponents score two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clear Brook 48-0 at home. Given Clear Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Clear Brook is ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shadow Creek's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.5 points. As for Clear Springs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Shadow Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Clear Springs in their previous meeting back in September, winning 20-7. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Clear Springs' Raymond Edwards, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
