Two dominant signal callers in MIKE JOHNSON and Cannon Robinson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Douglas County Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Westlake Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Douglas County, who comes in off a win.
Douglas County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on East Coweta with a sharp 42-17 victory on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Indians are ranked 109th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rah'Keith Kelly had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 114 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 46 yards and one touchdown. Zamarcus Lindley was in the mix too, providing Douglas County with two TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Douglas County proved: they limited East Coweta to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Steven Jones for the heroic effort on defense: he. Douglas County's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 5.08 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.67 on average over their last five games.
Douglas County's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up nine sacks. It was truly a group effort as Semaj Flueylln, Jordan Carter, and Solomon Fabian picked up two apiece. Flueylln has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Douglas County got some further help from Jones: he made 14 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Westlake played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Carrollton 48-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.
Douglas County's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Westlake, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Douglas County beat Westlake 35-22 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
