Softball Recap: Lemont Has No Trouble Against Plainfield North

Lemont won the last time they faced Plainfield North and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lemont HS blew past the Tigers 13-3. Considering the Lemont HS have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lemont let Caroline Painter and Ava Zdenovec run wild. Painter scored three runs while going 2-for-5, while Zdenovec scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Ella Phelan was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Lemont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Lemont's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Plainfield North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Lemont has already played their next contest, a 7-1 loss against St. Charles East on the 12th. As for Plainfield North, they will square off against Oswego at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
