The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (KIPP Collegiate has three straight victories, Lakeland Preparatory has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Crosstown scored an imposing 60 points on Wednesday, KIPP Collegiate still came out on top. KIPP Collegiate managed a 65-60 victory over Crosstown.
Lakeland Preparatory suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Douglass, falling 104-29. While losing is never fun, Lakeland Preparatory can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Douglass is ranked 18th).
KIPP Collegiate has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-13 record this season. As for Lakeland Preparatory, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
KIPP Collegiate didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lakeland Preparatory when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 77-71 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lakeland Preparatory's Connor Jones, who scored 27 points.
