This season hasn't been kind to the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Primero on Thursday. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy lost against El Primero in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-31 score last time.
El Primero's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JOSH CHAVEZ, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. GUSTAVO MALVAES was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for El Primero, their victory bumped their record up to 1-6.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. on December 18th. El Primero will be home for the holidays to greet Justin Garza at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
