The Benjamin Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Jensen Beach Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Benjamin easily dispatched Dr. Joaquin Garcia on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Benjamin fell just short of Jupiter Christian by a score of 9-7 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buccaneers have suffered since February 21, 2024.
Johnny Havlicek was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Derek Rubin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Benjamin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Jensen Beach made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lincoln Park Academy on Thursday. Everything went Jensen Beach's way against Lincoln Park Academy as Jensen Beach made off with a 14-0 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Baum looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Hughes, who went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Rader, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Jensen Beach's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Benjamin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Benjamin was able to grind out a solid win over Jensen Beach when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 7-3. Will Benjamin repeat their success, or does Jensen Beach have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
