After two games on the road, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is heading back home. They will take on The Edinburg Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Edinburg likes a good challenge.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Mission on the road to the tune of 55-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo can attribute much of their success to Jorge Alanis, who rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and Jaime Lopez, who threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns. Alanis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Caleb Salas was another key contributor, picking up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Joshua Castillo and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Edinburg entered their tilt with Edinburg North with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Edinburg walked away with a 34-21 victory over Edinburg North on Friday.
It was another big night for Ryen Abrego, who rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Abrego is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Santa Maria, who threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.67 points. As for Edinburg, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 322.6 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Edinburg, though, as they've been averaging only 113.3 per game. How will Edinburg fare against such a dominant passing game?
