In what's become a running theme this season, the Mechanicsville Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Varina, posting a 61-32 win at home. The win was nothing new for Mechanicsville as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mechanicsville found their leader in underclassman Kedelin Santos, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Santos continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Ashley Owens was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks.
Mechanicsville pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Varina, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Mechanicsville will head out on the road to challenge Atlee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Atlee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Mechanicsville is ranked 123rd). As for Varina, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
