The Smiths Station Panthers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Booker T. Washington with points to spare, taking the game 47-33. Given Smiths Station's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Booker T. Washington is ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tasha Judkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaya Crowell, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Booker T. Washington had strong showings from KeAundra Tatum, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds, and Tylizea Sanders, who scored 12 points. The game was Sanders' fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Smiths Station has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-0 record. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20 points. As for Booker T. Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smiths Station will take on Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday. As for Booker T. Washington, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Notasulga at 5:30 p.m. on December 4th.
