Meyersdale has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Ferndale Yellow Jackets at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-35, which was the final score in Meyersdale's tilt against Bishop Carroll on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Meyersdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Bishop Carroll is ranked 200th).
Meanwhile, Ferndale scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They managed a 64-59 win over Turkeyfoot Valley Area. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but Ferndale was the better team in the second half.
Ferndale relied on the efforts of Alex Lushko, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, and Chance Washington, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Washington continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Hrivnak, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Meyersdale's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Ferndale, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Meyersdale didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Ferndale in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 60-55 win. Does Meyersdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ferndale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
