Basketball Recap: Proviso East's Victory on Sunday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Proviso East had won two straight games and Camiya Marshall did her part to make it three on Sunday. The Proviso East Pirates took down the Crete-Monee Warriors 54-38 thanks in part to Marshall, who went 9 for 15 en route to 22 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Amyiah Dunbar was another key player, putting up two points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Crete-Monee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Johnsom, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Debra Wilson, who posted four points and three steals.

Proviso East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing seven assists in those games compared to only seven in the others. As for Crete-Monee, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Proviso East has already played their next game, a 60-17 victory against Zion-Benton on the 20th. As for Crete-Monee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-38 loss against Bloom on the 23rd.
