Baseball Recap: Cloudland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Unaka

Cloudland scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Unaka Rangers by a score of 17-16. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 9-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Camden Peppers put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Peppers was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Colin Davis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Brayden Whitaker was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Cloudland's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Unaka, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.

While Cloudland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
