Parry McCluer is 6-1 against Highland since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Fighting Blues will be playing at home against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Parry McCluer has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight losses, while Highland will come in with three straight wins.
Parry McCluer fell victim to Grace Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Fighting Blues' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Highland got the win against Eastern Montgomery on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Rams have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
John Wagner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highland is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Wagner was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Armstrong, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Highland: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Evan Kimble was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Highland pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Parry McCluer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Parry McCluer took their victory against Highland in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 18-3 score. Do the Fighting Blues have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
