The Pine Crest Panthers fell victim to the Saint Andrew's Scots''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Scots, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, Pine Crest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Saint Andrew's is ranked 104th).
Saint Andrew's can attribute much of their success to Dylan Mayers, who threw for 180 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Saint Andrew's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ethan Friesel.
Pine Crest's defeat was their fifth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.8 points per game. As for Saint Andrew's, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Pine Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saint Andrew's will look to defend their home field on Friday against Calvary Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. Calvary Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
