The Clifton Cubs will head out on the road to face off against the Elkhart Elks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 32 points the game before, Clifton were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 28-9 to Lexington.
The losing side was boosted by Parker Tunnell, who gained 139 total yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last contest, Elkhart made sure to put some points up on the board against Florence on Friday. Elkhart blew past Florence 48-14 at home. The result was nothing new for Elkhart, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Trystyn Tidrow had an outrageously good game as he threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes. Jayden Chapman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Lexington's win bumped their season record to 6-2 while Clifton's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Clifton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Elkhart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Clifton against Elkhart when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clifton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
