The Cranston East Thunderbolts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 51-29 defeat at the hands of Mount St. Charles Academy. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Cranston East struggled afterwards.
Despite the loss, Cranston East still got an impressive performance from Mya Jiminez, who scored 13 points.
Addie Stojanowski was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Roberts, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Cranston East has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Mount St. Charles Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Cranston East will head out on the road to square off against Woonsocket at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Woonsocket is ranked 49th, while Cranston East is ranked 42nd). As for Mount St. Charles Academy, they will be playing at home against Mt. Pleasant at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
