Choctaw is 7-0 against Ponca City since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Choctaw Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ponca City Wildcats at 8:00 a.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Choctaw didn't have too much trouble with Bixby at home as they won 66-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Choctaw.
Meanwhile, Ponca City had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Bartlesville out 46-44. The victory was just what Ponca City needed coming off of a 72-47 defeat in their prior match.
AJ Landes and Tay Moore were among the main playmakers for Ponca City as the former scored ten points along with five assists and the latter dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Choctaw is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Ponca City, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.
Choctaw beat Ponca City 62-51 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Moore, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Choctaw still be able to contain Moore? There's only one way to find out.
