The Chatfield Chargers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Legend by a score of 62-59. While losing is never fun, Chatfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Legend is ranked 19th).
When it comes to explaining why Chatfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drew Rohlman. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. The match was Rohlman's third in a row with at least ten points. Tanner Teff was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Legend's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Carcasson, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Gavin Whitehead, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Chatfield are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Legend, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will face off against Green Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Green Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 373 points over their last six contests. Legend will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
