The Legacy Lightning just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Legacy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 65-51 victory over Highlands Ranch on Tuesday. That looming 65-51 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Legacy yet this season.
Legacy can attribute much of their success to Nathan Spradling, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds, and Joey Delescinskis, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Delescinskis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavien Lopez, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Doherty was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Coronado 66-34 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.
Elijah Mack was his usual excellent self, scoring ten points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Solomon Latimer, who scored 11 points.
Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Doherty, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Legacy came out on top in a nail-biter against Doherty in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 51-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Doherty's Christian Drummond, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Legacy to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
