Highland waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Williams Field Black Hawks 17-0. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Kennedie Nelson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Highland let Alena Mascarenas and Abbie Shellabarger run wild. Mascarenas went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Shellabarger scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI Mascarenas has posted since back in April of 2024. Easton Joslin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Highland's record now sits at 10-6. As for Williams Field, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Highland beat Williams Field by a score of 19-4 on Thursday.
