The La Marque Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Iowa Colony, falling 55-25. La Marque has struggled against Iowa Colony recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Iowa Colony's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janyha Johnson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Payton Watson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
La Marque dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Iowa Colony, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-8.
La Marque will head out on the road to square off against Columbia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Iowa Colony, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brazosport at 6:30 p.m. Brazosport is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
